Tips to Increase Search Engine Traffic

If you want to increase search engine traffic to your website, you have to consistently get your website ranked on the first page of search results. This can be difficult, especially if your website is similar to huge websites like eBay or Amazon.com. Those giant corporate websites will almost always be ranked first, but there are some things you can do to get your site ranked in the top ten.

First, make full use of meta tags, alternative text for images, and website titles. These are all places you can sneak your keywords into, and it’s those keywords that get search engines to notice your site. Place keywords in as many areas of your website as you can to increase search engine traffic. Just don’t go overboard with them in the actual text that your visitors will read. If that text is too littered with keywords, it may not sound natural, and that turns readers off.

Don’t use frames. Each page of your website can be marked by a search engine, and sometimes it will be one of these sub-pages that turn up in search results instead of your main page. However, if you have pages opening in frames, those pages won’t be seen as separate pages by the search engine’s robots, meaning they won’t get added to the directory of results.

Update your site often. Search engines note when sites are updated and tend to list sites that update often higher than those that don’t. If you don’t need to update your actual website on a regular basis, start a blog and update it. Often, blogs are noticed by search engines and ranked fairly high simply because they update frequently and are focused on a single topic.

Finally, if your site is going to be of interest to people around the world, have the text translated into several different languages. This way, it will come up in search results around the world, resulting in yet another way to increase search engine traffic.
